The Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Development Engineer plays a key role in implementing and managing the infrastructure that supports Apple s data center environments.
In this position, a successful candidate will work closely with engineers on the GDCS Automation and Tools team as well as with partner organizations in order to implement solutions according to delivery priorities.
This individual will have exposure to a broad set of technologies and be constantly challenged to create solutions with the latest toolsets.
The ideal candidate should have a successful track record of dealing with various aspects of IT infrastructure management as well as Data Center building management systems to include DCIM software, enterprise monitoring, and ticketing systems.
A successful candidate must possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, be able to translate business and technical requirements into workable technical solutions, and strive to automate manual processes wherever possible.
Create, support, and maintain DCIM tools created until transitioned to ongoing support team.
Create documents on administration, installation, configuration and troubleshooting of software tools developed.
One of the major requirements of this position will be to interact with multiple internal customer groups across all disciplines (i.e., System engineers, networking, database administration, application development and production support teams, IT governance team)
Education and related Business/Technical Knowledge
Typically requires BA/BS or equivalent plus 5 or more years related operations and/or service delivery experience in an enterprise environment.
Candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of standard Linux system environments, NIS, installation of standard tools (Apache, gnu, Linux OS related and other UNIX utilities.
Skills and Expertise / Core Competencies
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills in a Unix/Linux environment.
Knowledge of system environments: NIS, NFS, DNS, SMTP, ACL/Firewall.
Strong understanding of web APIs (SOAP, REST, etc.).
Experience with configuring and tuning Apache, PHP, Oracle, MSSQL and MySQL database systems.
Proficiency in networking concepts such as LDAP, SSH/SSL, VPN, NIS, NFS, UNIX Security Software, DNS, SMTP, ACL/Firewall Control, Load Balancer and distributed storage solution.
Strong Inter-personal skills; ability to communicate clearly at all levels.
Basic Mac knowledge both hardware and software/Mac OS.
